Questions
What are the modes on this page?
The daily board is one shared roster everybody drafts on the same date. A free run deals new eras each time. Blind draft strips the stat lines so you are picking on the name alone. Salary cap hands you a budget, which is where you find out what you really think a bat is worth.
How deep does the baseball archive go?
Back to the nineteenth century and forward to the current game, including the recognised Negro Leagues. Every card is one real season with the line that season posted — the home runs, the average, the wins, the strikeouts — taken from the public record rather than an estimate.
How is a deadball hitter compared with a modern slugger?
By what the number meant in his own era. Twelve home runs in 1915 was a monstrous season and thirty in 2001 was ordinary, so each card is rated against the run environment it was actually produced in. Nobody is credited or penalised for the ball they happened to be handed.
Do I have to draft pitchers?
You fill a lineup and a rotation, and the rotation is where most seasons are lost. A stacked batting order with nothing behind it drops games all summer, because 162 of them is long enough for every hole to be found.
What is the daily baseball board?
One roster per calendar day, the same for every player worldwide. Draft it, watch the season simulate, and your record lands on that day's table. Same spins for everyone is what makes the result worth comparing.
Are the team names real franchises?
Each club chapter is identified by its city and span of years — Boston 1901–, Chicago 1876– and so on. That city-and-era label determines which real player-seasons can appear when the club comes up.
